Continuation of El Salvador postage--never finished!

I just realized I never finished blogging about El Salvador!! Haha the last post I wrote I was disappointed at the end and I really needed to finish my time so here goes starting from:

Monday, June 7
So, I didn't take a vacation day today because nobody wanted to take one with me and we already had projects. So--I woke up, had breakfast, and started working on English planning and my vacation day planning. We took 2 loads of laundry to the laundromat--I'm way excited to just get it all back clean!
More work and planning. Typed up my blog--pics didn't work.
Esther, Christina, and I went to the Ciber by Estela's---it was pure crap haha. The internet went out 1/2 way through, it was more expensive, and the keyboards didn't work well! And it took forever to print. Needless to say, we'll stick with our Ciber Y Mas :)

Estela's chicken was WAY good tonight--I need to get the recipe!
We went to the grocery store and I'm way excited about my Mani con Sal y Limon--love that stuff.
We came home and had a mini dance party with brainstorming about a music video to the song "Roses" by Outkast--clean version of course. Kristen, me, Kassandra, Brian, and Alex. oh ya. It would definitely include our Jake Gyllenhal poster in the bathroom reminding everyone of our room rule: to spray air freshener after pooping. It helps when the bathroom is IN the room you sleep in believe me haha.

Tyler told me Mike not only approved Boqueron but he really WANTS me to go! AND he is making it so whoever comes with me on vacation days doesn't have to use that day as on of their vacation days! That's way nice and I'm super excited--thank you, Mike!!!

Tuesday, June 8
CIPI day!! I LOVE those boys. Kristen was able to come with me with the boys today. She told me she could definitely see why I want to spend every day with them. There were HUGE running hugs and squeals. Ezekiel made sure to clean off the cement benches where Kristen and I were sitting and blocked off dirty parts with his hands so we wouldn't get dirty--so cute! He serenaded us with songs about Christ and His light and love--our favorite part (Cresciendo, cresciendo, como nubes en el cielo!) That was repeated quite a bit--he was so cute. We danced with them and then Kristen and I played make believe for a while with them! (we went to the states, Honduras, pizza hut 3 times, Pollo Campero, a cake shop, bought a dog, a pupuseria, the beach, and the pool--the security guards at the pool hassled Ezekiel about carrying pistols in haha.) He has such a cute imagination. Then we had drawing lessons and he had me write a love letter for Ana and he told me what to write. They start using flowery language at SO young an age!! Then we had story time with the kids and only like 2 or 3 knew how to read (these are 6-11 year olds) but the others loved hearing the stories. Ezekiel told me that I'm his best friend and Christina is his 2nd haha. We also (Esther did the figuring out here) figured out that his hand game is actually John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt!
"Juan, Paco, Pedro De la Mar, es mi nombre asi. A doonde lo me voy, me dice no que soy, Juan Paco Pedro De la mar, dadadadadadada!" I was so excited about this realization.

After Cipi we headed to Los Planes for some pupusas--thanks Mindy! We fit 24 people in a mini van bus on the way back--oh ya.
Then--English class! I seriously was going to cry. My students are way sad and told me they can only hope the next teacher is as happy and fun as me and patient. I don't want to leave them!!! It was way nice of them to say that and tell me I'm a really good teacher.
They LOVED singing Jay Sean's "Do You Remember" hahaha I loved breaking the class in half and having one half sing the Sean Paul echo "Bring it Back!!"--got a kick out of it

After Estela's, we had a popcorn + chatting session :)

Wednesday, June 9
I only got like 5 hours sleep max (4 1/2 actually)--we woke up early for FUDEM
I got to be with Kassandra and Kristen today (and Peter) and we got to do the campaigns where we actually went and gave people the glasses they ordered!
There were some sweet glasses (Oakleys, etc) for only like $20
It was so cool to see people's reactions when they could finally see well.
Also, I bought 10 tortillas for 50 cents. The best tortillas yet for sure. Add lime in there = deliciosooooo.
I also bought a typical apron at the Mercado Central and was so excited about it! That was one of the purchases I wanted to make sure I bought :)
English class tonight I started teaching them some American culture and started with relationships and the differences between greetings in Latin culture and American (no kisses, you don't say good night for buenas noches, etc) They loved talking about relationships haha it was great. We talked about meeting people for the first time, greetings throughout the day, dating, engagements, weddings, bridal showers, bachelorette/bachelor parties, etc and all the vocab and situations that go along with it! It was seriously a blast because they were way interested!
I LOVE my class and get jealous of other people taking over--not gunna lie :) It just means I have loved being here with them and having this opportunity.

Bro. Hernandez came to talk to Hermano Hernandez and it was so fun to see him! He's so nice and it was funny that he has been getting his facebook messages.
The Peña's weren't there to go the movies so that didn't happen :(
We went to Estela's and then home.
8 more girls came tonight. I'm feeling way overwhelmed right now and kind of just jealous and attached and I don't want our group dynamics to change--it's just overwhelming and I think why I'm feeling this is because it makes leaving just way too realistic.
I cried a bit on the phone while talking to Dad tonight. He's way proud of me and the things we've accomplished and I am too but I wish I was staying. It kills me that tomorrow is my last CIPI day and that I only have 2 English classes left.
Hard night. Reality is killer.
Fav moments of the day:
--while explaining that most people in America are pretty casual and with greetings we usually say "Hi!, Hello!, or Hey!" one student said, "Ya! Or--what up, Niggaaaaa?!!" bahaha I about died. Imagine this Latino with an accent saying that--it was hilarious. I was like umm haha ya you probably shouldn't say that. Unless you're black :)
--on the way home from FUDEM, Kassandra, Kristen, and I were so tired and apparently all passed out leaning back with our heads against the back of the truck, mouths just hanging open and all leaning on each other. Kassandra's and my faces were like seriously almost touching with our mouths hanging open--it was hilarious.

CIPI day--last one :(
it was way frustrating at first because the times that we do try to have structured classes, they plan activities that aren't normally planned! (school, soccer, etc) We played games the entire time and helped the boys reconstruct their playhouse. Ezekiel FINALLY came the last 1/2 of the time and he pried people off of me, telling them he was always with me! He was more subdued and actually spoke some English words with me (numbers 1-10, please, thank you, and you're welcome)--it was so cute!
I told him it was my last day and he just got sad and hugged me and had me carry him and he took pics. He said the prayer for their lunch and it was way cute. I told him I loved him and would miss him and he said the same. I'm so sad to know I probably won't see him again--I just want to take him home with me!

We got subway on the way home and a nice shower :)

We got to English way early and planned more of my lesson and wrote up song lyrics to Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal". I talked to students before classes started to help out and Luis (Juliann's obnoxious student haha) was there and trying to make a scene and flirting up a storm with every girl there. My whole of students turned around and one of them said, "Miss Bryan?", then pointed to him and pointed to me and said, "flirting!". Bahahahaha. I shouldn't have taught them that vocab yesterday :) I waved my finger in a "no!" position and said, "but very nice vocabulary!" hahaha.

We had a sign up sheet for Tuesday's going away party. We finished relationship vocab and started traveling vocab. We sung Smooth Criminal--they were so excited when they received the paper with the new lyrics on it and saw Michael Jackson at the top! I knew I liked them for a reason :)

I had them share bad date stories and David Santos had a bunch! He said it was sad he had so many but a good experience and it's better to laugh than cry about it haha!

I LOVE my class!!!!

Oscar came to say Hi and asked when I wanted to come and make Pupusas--I hope it works out for Tuesday--Vane sent me a message, too!
The Peña's were commenting on how sad it is that they can't take me alone places--I completely agree and wish I could!
Estela's was SO good tonight! Chile rellenos with salad and rice and arroz con leche. She also did me the favor of getting jerseys for my brothers for a good price at the market.
We had a dance/massage party then had a team meeting with everyone and the 12 of us first wavers doing the Kracken--it was epic. And awkward. haha

We get to volunteer at the hospital tomorrow!
